Started my sons quad today. Seems to be a little noisy in the top end area. Sounds to me like kind of a chatter noise. My guess is piston slap. Any replies would be helpful thanks.

Pre mix or oil injection?

Can you be a little more specific, chatter can be anything to a shed circlip, to a bunch of keys slapping the tank under vibration.

The quad is still injected with good smoke.
C'mon, loosen up some, please describe the problem more.

Smoke diagnoses very little, other than you could be running rich, or are using the incorrect oil.

If you fear piston slap, it may pay to remove the piston and have it measured before it drops a skirt.

Blasters all have some sort of distinct top end noise.. Maybe the noise has been there and you are just noticing it now? I am not saying there is nothing wrong or there is something wrong but they do make a common noise.. Better yet you have 2 Blasters correct? is the one noisier than the other? if so, is it more pingy ? like ping ping ping, or tappy like tap tap tap ?

Also you shouldn't have to pay to have a skirt drop..

The noise definitely is more of a tap tap tap than a Ping Ping. Yes it is definitely noisier than the

The oil being injected is Yamaha lube 2s. I know that it was not this noisy before. Father in-law suggested piston slap.
Thank you gentlemen

I would investigate more if it sounds louder than normal i heard something in mine years ago it sounded like a clattering sound and it turned out to be the piston about ready to drop a skirt it was cracked about 2/3 the way round

That's what I was thinking.
