A-arm ball joint boots

well i am trying to swap boots from 2 different sets of a-arms cause there are some cracked boots on my good set of arms

there are little rings that hold them off, easy to get off, but hard as hell to get on apparently

anyone got any tips?

Yes, I have. They are shaped like a keyring. Which spirals inward and then ends three loops down from the original loop. See what I am saying? using something to cover the end tip of a flat blad screw driver press up on the bottom of the ring(try no to tear it). Then get something to insulate or protect the top of another screwdriver(get a THIN flat head, but not so thin it will break) and pry about at the point 3mm away from the beginning of the first "keyring loop." Push upward and under the ring and upward on the bottom of the ring and the boot "keyring" will come off, as will the balljoint boot itself. If this is too confusing, it's kinda hard for me to explain I'll make a video. Just PM me back. Hope this helps, took me a few beers to figure it out, and sadly just drank a few.

napa sells a 1.5mm zip tie. their like 8 inches long. buy a package.

all you want it to do is stay in place to hold the grease on the ball.

the ty-rap is also a common trick with cv boots, worth a try !!!!!

Couple small straight screwdrivers, kinda reverse of off, hold mouth and tounge in right position, use profanity in the "CORRECT" combination, pray a little bit, maybe half hour later you'll have one on. Work slowly/carefully to not rip good boot. Took them off the 'shee to blast and paint and regretted it when I went to put them on. Get one driver between coils to seperate the starting point and just work it on. No good way to really describe the operation. Hope this helps.
