I'm not the biggest 4-stroke fan, but I know y'all like pics, so here's my latest finished project. I got this '86 Yamaha Moto-4 220 off Craigslist for $ 400.00 this summer. It ran, but only just. I almost junked it after choking on the clouds of oily smoke it put out, but my boss liked the 23-year-old quad. Complete with hand-painted camo plastics! So, we decided to go ahead and fix it. I:I The jug is punched .5mm over with a Wiseco piston. The head got rebuilt with new valves and fresh cut seats. A fresh muffler put a cork in the beast, and of course a tune-up was in order. The engine turned out to be running erratically due to a bad $ 5.00 ignition coil. Go figure!
Anyways, $ 250.00 later, it started right up after sitting outside-and on the shelf-for 3 months, in about 15 major pieces, with a rag stuffed down the bottom end. Whew! I finally have my workbench back! Long live Yamaha!!
