I'm looking to buy the vito's 3m crank but I was wondering if should shave the head or use the spacer I heard that using the spacer will not make the motor as reliable

Using the spacer in no way makes it less reliable, but it moves the port timing too far back, you will never get the full potential out of it. As a cheap alternitive it works just fine untill you can send your jug and head to be matched and ported, just don't expect a big performance boost from dropping it in and calling it a day.

Hope this helps.

yes there is nothing wrong with using the spacer plate, dont get a cut head to replace the spacer plate.....a cut head will build way to much heat in the head, and as blasterude said..it has to be ported to match the longer stroke
