Anyone on here have a 3D printer or can think of any good ideas on parts that could be made with a 3d printer?

If the printer was big enough: Stator Cover, I can't imagine the plastic used would be good enough for any parts that would wear out. ie: chain slides.

My brother used to have one. like merc said, the plastic couldnt be used for a lot

stator cover or oil pump covers. any specialized parts could work, but nothing major.

well yeah that would be awesome. i would have printed a hood by now.

i actually just thought of that and went "dang, too bad he sold it"

i think a 3d pen would be fun. for a little while anyways, could never make anything good

I've watched some vids on youtube. They seem like they could be real fun to have. I've seen many things made with one. Even a working gun.. I've even seen one on Youtube e that makes me tel parts. It has a bed that you powder me tel into and it builds up the metal parts by laying thin layers of some kind of glue.

Actually after I posted this I thought of you and the models Herp.. You could make anything you needed for them. The one printer I was looking at said it could print things the size of a shoe box.

every model and brand is different for size and what it prints

also the software you use to create the parts on a computer is expensive. the software we have at school is a several thousand dollars...
my brother has the student free version (have to get code from a teacher with a licensed copy i believe) and its okay
i was going to download it, but then i realized my laptop could not support it (you need a graphics card)

i could really go for a printer hood right now. im painting the one and going to start cutting the other one soon

They showed on CNN..... a company with a big 3D printer has built an whole driveable car . They drove it to a car expo and hope have it priced at only $15,000 .

i believe a lower has been made for an AR. although they do not claim its used for the purpose.

although, unless you made it about 3/4" to and inch thick, it would probably shatter after 2-3 shots

even then, i would not trust it

Possibly, but I haven't convinced myself yet.. In a few years when price drops for sure. As of right now,, doubt it unless I can make something real use full and worth it... Shoot it could prob make vf4's (or invent even a better reed assembly if possible) custom hand guards , maybe case saver, chain sliders if the material would hold up, light weight air boxes, nice curved air scoops, custom shock guards like those sweet Elka ones, The list goes on.. I would need to do ore homework before investing in something like that though.. But the idea of it is awesome.. Wish I could just rent one for a weekend or so..

chains sliders it could probably do. most common is ABS plastic which is very hard

making a plastic airbox would probably weigh about the same as the cfm aluminum ones, other than the tubing

and shock guard like the stage 5s have?
