I just picked up a 1991 blasty. Not sure what is done in the motor.Has a FMF fatty pipe and FMF turbine core II muff. OKO 30mm carb 155-52, needle on middle (3rd) clip.K&N clamp on filter no air box.
The thing starts and runs like a champ untill you get about 3/4 throttle in all gears and it just kinda boggs out! :-/
Any imput would be great

try to do a 3/4 throttle plug chop, and see how that comes out.

sounds like it's most likely a main jet issue.

If its bogging at 3/4 throttle try lifting the needle one clip, may help but still could be lean on the main.

Then plug chop to make sure.

OK it's raining too much to do a plug chop today.....But i did a leak down and it never dropped at all so im good there.....Next i did a compression test. Now 1st i have a tester from Harbor freight that screws in and the highest i got was 90psi...2nd i did the test with one you push in and hold and got 130psi....Not sure if i should trust the HF tester cause ive had bad luck before!

The weather has not been cooperating here....I have went up on the Main jet from 155-165 each step and nothing has changed. I can just rev it up and its good to about 3/4 throttle and thats where it just boggs out! Not sure what to do anymore! Anyone else have other Ideas???

OK....I wasnt getting anywhere going richer so I started to lean it out. I went back to were I started from a 155main and got down to 145 put the clip on the 2nd notch and changed my mix from 40-1 to 32-1 and BAM!! It runs AWESOME!!! Try to do a plug chop this weekend and post a pic
