I've been trying to sell my Blaster for some time now, but there is this raptor for sell for $1500 close by, i contacted the guy to asked whats wrong with it and all he could say that it wont start and it smokes , but it will start if you jump start while rolling down hill(starter) , after that it runs great but smokes ? So im assuming that it needs rebuilt , but would it be worth it . I mean my Blaster runs great nothing wrong with it at all . What ya think ?

drop the 1500 on a stroker crank, port job on current jug or get a big bore ported, a bigger carb and new exaust. a wider rear axle, extended swing arm and 400ex rear shock.

dude imo raptor 660 sucks bro, great torque and power but the dam thing weighs too much to move. my buddy has a fully built one and we raced i was only like 3 bike lengths behind... it blew his mind, he looked back thinking he blew me out the water and i was right there. another time he raced my friend on a yfz450 w/ mods and the 450 killed him up top (they are both great riders too) it takes 2 people to load and unload the dam thing

great advice man, those things always smoke and always need rebuilds cause people abuse the hell otta them!! anyway hope you have some deep pockets if your rebuilding a 660 motor :) people put endless beatings on those thumpers thats why there so cheap, cause they need 3 grand in new parts once you get it

I'd say 1500 is a bit much for that particular raptor, but raptors aren't slow. They are absolute torque monsters, and have a pretty good community for advice and parts.

Thanks for the advise guys , helped alot you talked me into keeping the blaster and building it up . Thanks .
Hey HoleShot where u get that swingarm ?

he must not be TOO good of a rider if he can't ride it in and out of a truck or trailer... my truck is lifted and has 35"s I load it in by myself and unload it by myself... unless his truck is significantly higher than mine I don't see it being a problem I will still ride it in if I go bigger and run 38s or 40s... raptors can be fast. you don't see too many drag or dune yfzs holding up to raptors do you? you need to know how to build a bike 1st of all. bolt on's pipe and all will still not do too good if you have the airbox lid on, you're still screwed. I've seen guys with cams, bores, strokers ect have slow bikes because they still run the airbox lids to keep from drowning ect.

people like to say this and that. I have an inch of water in my airbox right now (saw it today when I changed filters and left it there lol) and I DO have a lid, depends on your riding type but I can't loose the lid if I wanna keep any water at all outta my engine lol. I'm sure some got in there this weekend. at a quick glance I only had a couple spots on my lid sunday after the ride. but then today when I took my filter out to put my new K&N in, bottom was full of water :( I was pounding it into the puddles and the splashes were easily over head since the puddles were upwards of 2' deep and I was nailing them hard right down the middle LOL. almost went over the bars a few times even tho I sat way back and braced lmfao

but yeah, imo, it depends on the supporting mods, not just oh I got a stroker and big bore kit. but stock airbox/carb/porting and think I'm doing big power lol alot of these guys just install factory built mods not do proper supporting mods to actually get the most gains out of their new stuff...
