i am new to this site. i have a yamaha blaster that i just rebuilt the carb on. now that i rebuilt it, it is getting way to much gas. all you have to do is turn the gas on and the key over and gas comes flowing out the overflows. it has all new jets and needles. the float is also new and in the proper position. it will run but it has no power until you shut the gas off. it will then rev up and die. does anyone have any suggestions. i am not a expert on four wheelers and i don't know what else it could be. thanks for the help.

sound's like the needle and seat aren't functioning properly. when i rebuilt mine that happened and somehow apiece of the old gasket had gotten in there. i don't know how i though i cleaned it very thouroughly but it slipped in there somehow. so no matter how sure you are you should still check

ok so time for the dumb guestion. when i put the needle seat in i had a hard time getting it in the whole. i had to pound it in. is this normal. also the needle fits up inside the seat right? maybe i don't have it all the way down in there or something. is this really the only thing that controls the fuel coming through?

let me just put it this way there is a closed end that has the little hole in it and then the other end is opened up. the way i put it in is the closed end with a small hole up and the opened end down so the needle will go up in it.

sounds like it is in the right way . but you shouldn't of had to force it in. should have been a little difficult bc of the o ring but not very hard. something is stuck is the problem. the neadle is not seating and that is why it is leaking.

i believe the part you are talking about is the needle jet, it goes in from inside the carb, down thru, the collar prevents it from going down too far,
scott i believe is talking about the float needle, which ride on the floats, are you sure it's connected to the tab on the floats, and they are adjusted correctly,
which is 20 - 21.5mm measured to top of floats from where the gasket would sit
definately sounds like a float/valve situation
and never once have i used a hammer on any carb i've cleaned/rebuilt
when you pull it back off and apart, get us some pics of what you hammered on

thanks scott i will take it back out and make sure there is nothing in it. awk 08 i also had a concern with the part you are talking about. i put the jet in but it kept sliding up inside carburatoer. that valve inside has a slit in it and there is a (tit) on the inside that you line up and slide it down. i did this several times but it continued to push up into it. is this normal. this is the first time i have ever worked on one and am really just teaching myself as i go.

When installing a float needle's seat that has an o-ring, a little vasoline goes a long way. Chances are very good that you nicked the o-ring when you forced it in. Take it back out and examine it. Any damage and it will never seal.

ok i took it back apart and the oring was bad on the needle seat. i replaced it and got it back in with no problems this time. i also adjusted the floats but it is still doing the same thing. i looked at a diagram of the carb today and i am missing the main jet washer. would this make it do what it is doing?
