I recently purchased a yamaha blaster that the owner before me said he had bored to a 240cc. Although when I start it it runs for a second then dies and then wont start. At first I thought it was fouling the plug which I intern cleaned and it would start first try again and do the same thing. I read online about the TORS delete kit which may cause this problem and I did that and still have the same problem. It is getting good spark because I checked it with my hand. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the cdi unit. Keep in mind the owner said it was bored so that may be one of the issues. If anybody knows anything please help!

It's a 2004

you cant bore a blaster to 240 cc, its probally just bored .40 over

I will answer in this thread and ignore the duplicate in General support!

A new plug may simply fix the problem.

Cleaning 2 stroke plugs are usullly not successful as they short out internally due to oil buildup.

I lied I will answer this thread, but please keep questions to a single thread to avoid confusion.

Thanks man, I'm brand new to this site and have little to no knowledge on using it. I will try the plug though!

Might help to be more specific as to how you did TORS delete, follow DIY on this forum for 03+ ?

CDIs rarely malfunction, they either work or are dead, nothing in between. I don't think even Thomas Edison could tell the difference between a lazy yellow and a FAT BLUE spark. Check that ALL connections are corrosion free and tight, add dielectric grease. Coil mount MUST be clean bare metal (add di-grease), better yet is to run seperate ground wire from coil back to engine. Check that all grounds are clean, tight, greased.

:o:o:o

when i tried to "merge" these 2 twin threads, it now lists 89blaster as the OP. ???

sorry Allen, carry on

Well then : To whom it may apply:D

IF After doing ALL suggested gets same results, try cleaning carb. The gas we get now is such crap, saw on another site that it can go bad in as little as six days:o (lost octain). As it evaporates out of the bowl you end up with more oil/less volitles.

Don't remember if it's one of these posters or someone else, but drain some fuel from tank into glass jar, checking for flow and what fuel looks like. If it appears cloudy drain it and start new. The one with goop in tank should also flush tank.
