Will a 2001 engine fit on a 1996 frame? I have my 2001 complete in my albums but my buddy gave me his 1996 frame for 400. It has everything on it (wires, lights, plastics, carb, exhaust, brakes, new tires, all that good stuff)

Thanks, so I did the switch in like 30 minutes. It is all hooked up now except the chain, how can I adjust the chain to make it longer? I've read thrreads but i dont understand them, do i have to remove the sprocket and rear disc break?
well you cant stretch the chain but you can move the rear axle forward to have it fit on. there are 2 bolts that go through the carrier, lossen them. then there are 2 tension adjustment bolts on the rear of the carrier sticking to the back of the quad. loosen those almost all the way out. then take a peice of wood and a hammer and knock the carrier forward all the way. the chain should fit on now...
what do you mean? you move it over when you move the carrier up but you dont remove it. does the chain have a master link?
