2000 Yamaha Blaster (rev/carb problem)

I have a problem with my 2000 Yamaha blaster. When i start it up its fine. But when i but the chocke on it revs high then it stalls. Is it suppost to do that because all my other dirtbikes and quads dont do that. Its just suppost to help it start right? :-/ Then it runs fine. I:I After a couple of hours riding it. When i turn it off i turn the carb switch from on to off and i leave it running until it dies out. Then suddenly It was revving the highest it could be. I took the key out it was still going. Then the red switch to off and its still going so I hit the throttle and it stalled. It scared the sh*t out of me. Any suggestions? Thanks

I wouldn't run the gas out of it like that. you are creating a lean situation by running out of fuel. if you run out of fuel you run out of oil. it revs high because it is running really lean (too much air not enough fuel). that is kind of weird with the choke thing. not quite sure what that is. this is kinda the wrong place to post. you should have posted in the engine section but i will let it slide being brand new. glad you figured out how to post atleast. lol
