1998 blaster/wont stay running

I have a 98 Blaster that will kick over but wont stay running. after about 15-20 seconds of running it will chug and die, and give me problems starting it back up, i noticed there was gas comming out the overflow so i took the carb off and cleaned it and it stopped. oh and it will occasional backfire... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!! ITS SPRING AND I WANT TO RIDE!!!

Could be time for a top end rebuild. Before I got mine rebuilt, fuel was coming out of the overflow sometimes but it would stay running. Check your reeds for cracks or lifting. Check the compression. Good luck and keep us posted.

you may be sucking air into the carb because of an improper float height or a bad needle seat, hence the reason u are geting gas out the overflow. If it was low compresion than you would not even be able to start the bike

Hi i have a 1998 blaster and it was running fine then it started to bogg down and then stalled i checked and the spark is good but i noticed gas was dripping from the overflow but i was gassing it while tryin to start but it kept dripping so i turned the gas off and it quit.It wont start at all. Any Ideas?

when you looked at that plug was it lean or rich (even wet) when the motor died, as soon as you have a sudden death pull the plug and let it tell you what was going on, doesn't work all the time but can, sounds like you need to tear your carb down and figure out why it's dripping gas

I checked the plug it was black but not to bad and it was dry i was getting a spark though and i tried it with a new plug and had no luck.
