Nephew, has a cavalier and his wipers won't return to lower position, everything works but the stay stickin straight up! annoying, Looking for a starting point, the arms are tight and linkage is tight!

Ok, took the cowl off and all is tight and clean. When you turn the wipers on they work great but when you turn them off, just when you think they are gonna stay down the motor turns opposite way and put'sm them at 12 oclock? Any suggestions?

if im correct there is a small pin that runs where the arm hooks to the link that turns it, that got rusty on my dads 93 chevy and made it stick up, took it off and put a new pin in and good to go, check for any rust or wrong.. parts, in the wrong spot lol

after you turn the wipers off it continues to go to 12 oclock?? theres 2 stoppers on there, one that stops it going to far down, and one that stops it from going to far up, the bottom one must be gone or something, causing the motor to stop and reverse back to the top

nothing to do with stops... the wiper motor transmission is screwed up.. common problem on gm cars, i faught and faught and faught with one to get it reset and wound right and failed... go to the local junk yard and get one or your local parts store can order them.... google gm wiper motor transmission

just like what i stated above, try looking for the stoppers, they all good and in tact?

I could not find any stops except where the wipers sit when they are all the way down on the cowl! Thanks for given me ideas , I kinda suspectted the motor but, wasn't sure!
