1996 blaster help

ok everyone heres the deal i bought a 1996 blaster that was locked up. got it home took the top end off and found that the bottom of the piston was broke and the peices were under the crank. so i carefully removed them and the crank seems to be just fine. so is it possible to just replace the piston or is there something else i should look for thanks

youll have to check the bore with a bore gage,you should take it to a shop,have the guy check the bore(your buying a new piston anyway)and tell him you wanna buy a piston kit.But your definately looking at a new piston and honing the cylinder

I would split the cases and check the bearings. It would suck to put the top end on and then have the bottom end crap out on you.

yes you should check the bearings, yes its gonna be longer that your gonna go without riding but if your bottom end goes than thats gonna be an even LONGER wait and more money... so save yourself time and money int he long run and just split the case and check the bearings and seals make sure the piston pieces didnt cause too much damage
