My 1988 Blaster will not kick start while it's cold. The only way it will start when it's cold is if I roll it down the hill and pop the clutch. It has cold started once since I got it back from being fixed (for free not gonna argue), and that was after it ran out of gas and I refilled it. It starts better after it's been running a while, but still not good. Once it's running it runs great. Anyone have any idea on how to fix it?

I'm guessing that it's in need of a top end rebuild. get a compression tester, and do a compression test.

Yep...I'd agree with ^^^^ provided you've got fresh gas, clean carb, new plug and strong spark. Time for a compression test.

Let us know what you find.

May I sugguest that the carb was not cleaned properly and there is something amiss with the choke circuit

Has a compression test been done.

Not yet, I will get a compression tester when I have money after Christmas and post the results.

If that carb has been off, cold starting problems can also be caused by an air leak.

If it were me I would not be riding until I had done a leak down test as well. You could well be running too lean which can harm your motor.

Good luck.

Does it kick easy? (the kicker goes down easy no resistance? That's another way to try to diagnose low compression.
