New to the group but not new to engines.
Need help diagnosing a 06 Blaster that is difficult to start and the idle takes off on it's own sometimes. I did not check compression, but it must be high as my 100lb 13 year old nephew has a rough time kicking it lol.
Followed TORS delete instructions from these forums by cutting and soldering the wires. Issue getting worse. Noticed wetness around outside bottom of intake boot/Reed cage so I pulled that apart and found signs of air leak. Will be cleaning it up and applying thin film of high temp copper rtv but in the process I notice the reed valves do not sit tight against the cage and there was quite a bit of mixed fuel between reeds and carb on the inside. There is probably enough gap for 3-4 sheets of paper (about .009) gap to slide through. Is this acceptable or should I replace the reeds and or cage?
If the reeds do not resolve the issue I'll be performing a leak test.
