So I was on here a month ago for some jetting advice and im back for more. I have 2 "04" Blasters one for my wife and 1 for me. Lets call em white and blue. Both have FMF silencers, gold series pipes, and air filter sponge w/no lids. White has TORS delete blue does not. Running them in Massachusets so elevation is 100-200 ft with average summer temps of 90 and humid. A month ago I received help with white's jetting here on Blaster Forum. I ended up removing my stock 230 main and put in a 290 main. Been running great since (low compression from begining). We just did blue's carb and found a dynajet 360 main. We left it in (after cleaning) along with the needle that has an extra slot for the e-clip (jesus clip cuz u need him to get them on without losing it, sorry millwright humor). After carb clean/rebuild, adjusting air screw, and adjusting idle screw/tors screw (blue has no TORS delete but good compression) the thing runs great and compared to white it screws.

My questions are why so high of a main jet? Should I put a 290 in blue or up white to 360 with needle? I love the power blue is getting now but im not sure if that's compression, jetting, or the combo of the two. FYI blue is my wifes and white is mine. I cant have her able to whoop on me so need the advice. Also don't want the things getting messed up with to high of a jet or anything. The statement that flys around here "They run best right before they are ready to blow" has me concerned and cautious.

Also side note I have still not done the oil delete and am happy about it. Thanks to Ack and Blaaster for all the help in the past with oil delete and jetting. Thanks ahead to all with any help now.

Genuine mikuni jets are hard to beat for quality control, if it says it's a 290, it flows 290 (or however their rated)
knockoffs and other companies that make replacements for the mikunis may not have the same quality of genuine mikunis, and dynojets may even have a different numbering system for their jets ? so their 360 may be equal to a mik 290 ?

if it runs good as is, and main jetting has been confirmed with a plug chop (both bikes) run them !
if you'd like to throw a 290 in the one with 360 DJ, just for peace of mind, make sure the 290 is a genuine mikuni jet, and confirm it with a plug chop

Your post is exactly why it's recomended to use genuine Mikuni or Kehine jets. If you're running something else we can't tell if you're close or not.

To confuse you even more, blue might like a 280 or 300 better than a 290. Even tho they are identical.
That's why jetting recomendations end with "plug chop to comfirm".

^^^^ Like they already stated but just to add.. If in fact the Numbers are close ( the mikuni and the dinosaur jet) Than you may have an air leak.. Basically meaning the much larger # in the jet may be hiding an air leak (or). Again that is if the #'s are actually the same or even close..

If the same exact mods ,, switch over the jetting and you should have a good idea.. Although the right thing to do ;),, would be to do a quick leak test and then a plug chop.. Cant go wrong if the leak test is good and the plug chop comes out as it should,, no matter the #'s on the jets.. Much easier to work with genuine Mikuni though so you and everyone else know where you stand.
