i bought it about a week ago it has good compression and spark and theres gas flowing through the carb but it will only start if its pulled with a truck then the throttle response is way off and it smokes alot, [it sat for about a year before i got it] any ideas????????????????????

havent done a compression [psi] test i jest did the fingure over the sparkplug hole trick and it feltlike it had strong compression, what jets do you think i should try i have stock jetting now

did you clean the carb just because gas is flowing through doesnt mean its clean. If it sat for a whole year without being ran that carb has to be dirty. If its not the carb then the only other thing i can think of at the moment would be the TORS messing up

the jetting you should have depends on what mods you have if the motor is stock then you should be fine with stock. if you do get around to doing a compresssion test it should be at 120 to 130 psi

is that the little box under the hood?, also its all stock and i dont think it is a gas problem because i put my buddies carb on it and it didnt wanna start with his either

then it wouldnt be the TORS either unfortunately because the TORS is attached to the stock carb. Do a comprsion test then because that could be causin the non-starting problem obviously lol. looks like your heading toward a rebuild.

ughh thats what i was afraid of haha would that solve the smoking problem and the bad throttle response problem?

wait nevermind im stupid lol i completly forgot about the reeds as soon as you mentioned throttle response it hit me lol. pull the carb and look at the reeds if they are cracked or let light through they need replaced. the reeds should be flat agaisnt the reed cage

ughh thats what i was afraid of it seems everytime i take something apart to fix it i find more problems, i still have a warrior disected in my shed because of sh*tty timing =[

it may not be the topend it could just be the reeds i cant know for sure until you do a compression test. If the compression is good then it all points to bad reeds. there are so many factors that can affect the thorttle response, smoking, and other things. Also once again im stupid if the smoke its putting out is very whiteish then it could be the crank seals what happens is the crank seal goes bad and lets tranny oil into the carb and it tries to burn it this causes a ton of smoke and horrible throttle response. go check the tranny oil see if it low if so it could be the crank seals going bad. Im trying to help as best i can.
