Okay, So I posted a thread a while back for some help on what motors will work with my blaster. I found out that nearly all blaster motors will fit and that 03 and later I will need to ground the stator. I am having trouble finding a decently priced stock motor. Does anyone know where I can find a good motor? Or what other motor can I replace it with as an upgrade to stock?

well how much is decently priced? on ebay they go from anywhere from 200-750 right now i think there is some decent ones one there right now going for $400

Keep checking craigslist. I got one there for $30 once. Only needed a new piston.

The only motors on ebay that I have found that look alright are 800 and up. Many are not complete. What type of motor can I put in as an upgrade?

Thanks...i will be taking a look at those links. I can weld and do my own work. Do you have any idea what the most common/most painless motor swap for an upgrade would be?

none of them are painless persay, however an air cooled motor will be the easiest, and a 4 stroke would be really easy

a pipe it the difficult part

Would a yz250 or larger motor work well?

Work?...yes
Well?...yes
do you want to tackle the job of trying to Build a header pipe that requires more math then all the books in the closest college could teach you?...up to you

I'm not trying to sound like a C**K ROD, but you would need to know how the exhaust gasses flow threw the pipe and how that affects the power and throttle response of the engine. There is allot to be considered when planning an engine swap like this.

if you know how to weld getting the motor in and aligned properly is the easy part, its knowing how to build the pipe so its tuned right that's going to be the challenge.

If you have the money to spend on getting a custom pipe made by somone that does it for a living your looking at up to $600-800. for that much you could have bought an engine off E-gay and rebuilt it, got a decent pipe and some good reeds and been close without all the hassle.

Its up to you but i know what direction i would go.

There is always that little exception tho, and that's if i got the YZ250 engine for FREE! then its a case of why not, it didn't cost me anything and I'm not out much if it doesn't work.

Bet of luck to ya, hope it all comes out well in the end.

If you're interested I have a complete Blaster motor, carb, exhaust, simplified wiring harness. It needs a lot of work but ran when pulled...

i knoe 1bad442 is selling a motor for i think 800 dollars that he says runs perfectly and also has some upgrades like vforce reeds and a hinson clutch kit or something like that, i would vouche for the guy for sure, i think that is much safer than ebay, you are more likly to find a lemon than you are a piece of gold

The DT 200 Yammy is the easiest complete swap u can do, if u use the DT'd wiring harness and complete engine it bolts right in with a slight bore of the pivot bolt hole and welded on Radiator mounts, I'm in the process of buildin g a DT blaster myself right now. It wasnt easy tho trying 2 get that Damn bike and engine. 2 years of fishin around on CANADA and AUSTRALIA Craigs list! I have it now tho and already put the blaster engine into the DT with some frame and pivot bolt modding and i have the DT engine in the blaster now mocked-up to see the clearance space for the radiators to be mounted.I:I

in Most cases tho it costs an arm and a leg to get your hands on one.

People will tell you that you cant get the parts through US yammy shops but i have, i go there, they get on their canadian home page and just order the parts easy as pie! Call me a liar! I got Receipts!!!B)

LIAR! what? you said call you that...

Now scan and post those receipts so you can't tell a fishermans story about how much that DT costs to swap in there...

Soon as I have them all collectively i will show them, I want to show everyone here that it is actually not that hard and fairly inexpensive to do and thats even with the fact i'm doin it BIG! But there seems to be so much mystery surrounding this swap and a few guys have spoke out and helped to clear a lot of things up about the swap, but i am taking pics and video footage and trying to blueprint most of it so that anyone can easily do it. The parts are obtainable through us shops and the only truly hard part about the swap is obtaining an engine and then importing it. most spend a TON to do this! I imported a complete DT 200 motorcycle for $515 dollars. Thats purchase and import tax combined. Although it did cost a large chunk of change in gas to go to the canadian border to pick it up. Don't have any receipts for that tho... LOL! I think we will be achieving a great deal more horse power than most would expect from this motor once i'm done with the mods. can't wait til its done to show to everyoneI:I
