I know this is an old thread, but here's the overall results of my fix: There is zero play between the gear and the basket, so the sealant worked perfectly. I know this because I had to take the clutch off this weekend because (here's the bad news) the heads of the bolts rubbed against the shift...
I had the same problem. Our solution was to build a second gate next to the first one so I could open both gates and ride the blaster through. I dont know if you have enough room for that or the motivation to do it right with posts and cement and all that jazz.
Awk, I know I could fab up some way of getting it to work, I just find it interesting that fmf would send me a flange with no loop when the fmf pipe has a loop on it from the factory. Thoughts?
Ok so I ordered a new exhaust flange from fmf, and when I got it I saw that it had no loop for a spring to attach. The flange that's on my blaster right now does in fact have a loop for the spring, as it should. Anybody have a clue as to why this flange from fmf doesnt have a loop on it??

herpderp, I know just what you mean. There's like a billion of those types of tachs for sale. I've come to the conclusion that they don't make a gauge version, just a digital one. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to live with it. :(
Kinda reviving this thread, but do they make inductive tachometers that are a gauge? And not a digital readout? I just think it'd be cooler if it were an actual gauge.
I agree with tfaith08; if you're going to be doing a rebuild, go all the way and replace all the seals. That's what I did with mine. And that's just a suggestion, I'm not in the business of telling people what to do; you're free to think for yourself.
PS- tfaith08, you earn my vote for the...
