Provides more low and mid range power. The 87-92 also run better than the 85-86. The 87 runs the best since it has the largest intake. Try to steer away from the 85-86 if you can. The suspension on those is different in the front and they are slower.
I don't know how the stock shocks are, I've always had works. I'm assuming they aren't that good considering how old they are. If you need to know anything about them let me know.
