Yamaha Blaster yfs 465?

For starters, is it possible? Secondly, if possible, how difficult. I happen to have a decent rolling '96 Blaster frame (minus a few parts) with a blown motor (hole in case...). I also have laying around the house, a 1980-something Yamaha IT 465 with a not-so-good frame and body... I think it's possible, because I've read about a few of them, but i have yet to see pictures with a good explanation. Any help will be appreciated, and i will post as many pictures/videos/sound clips as possible. Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

hope you know how to weld, you will need to make up motor mounts, modify you exhaust, and definitely gusset the blaster frame to make stronger, pay attention to under the seat area thats where the frame always breaks, good luck i hope you go through with it, it will be sick

ill take that motor off you hands

Yeah, I think not... lol. I want this to get done... At this point the "it" needs a new clutch, other than that it runs like raped gazelle... The Blaster is in pieces on account of how I was going to part it out, but this seems like a much better idea! But if i don't end up completing this project, I will keep you in mind for the motor :)

Thanks for the input man. I:I At this point anything will help. This blaster forum is filled with some really dedicated and gifted people. I will get as many pics up as soon as I can.

do it, do it, do it....
i have no idea how it could be done b/c i don't even know what a IT 465 is, but if it is 465 cc's and it runs like you say it does.... it will be awesome. the best way to learn how to do things is to do it! sure ur gonna get annoyed and stressed at some point alone the line, but it'll be worth it. ;)

an IT465 with bad frame.... a good blaster frame with bad motor.... I say it is meant to be!

Google image for an IT465. They were the baddest ass bikes in their day. The fact that it's a 465cc 2 stroke that is air cooled... doesn't get any better than that!

i noticed the exhaust comes out the left in the rear, and if you routed it to the right on a blaster, you will probably burn your leg, so the exhaust will be tricky

465cc air cooled two stroke?!?!?! wow. i imagined it to be a 4 stroke.... it just keeps getting better! make sure u lengthen that swingarm and post lots of pics and vids!

Dude thats crazy i would love to see something like that. One thing to keep in mind is how hard is it to find parts for.

you shouldnt hack up the exhaust.. the stock it465 has that pipe for a reason..
the sound waves from the engine eco down the pipe and bounce all the exhaust out and send a bit of a backlash to the engine for a fraction of a second and they get sent back out...
so by hacking it up you are messing with how well your header refracts the sound to force the exhaust out.
most ppl dont know thats why 2stroke headers are so much fatter than 4stroke headers. its cuz they need a good eco-ing pipe to bounce sound vibrations in to force exhaust out.

so be careful with that

Theres a guy on everything2stroke that has a yz400 motor in his blaster. He also had the cylinder punched out to 425cc. You should talk to him, I'm sure he'd have some advice for you on your build. As for the exhaust having sound waves..... um, how do you come up with that? If that were the case, then why does an aftermarket exhaust perform so much better then stock?

Thats Paulie b that did the yz 400. He has an account on here to. Someone on here did a yz 490 to, don't remember who though.
