ok so i bought my blaster back in the summer time and it was running fine until a few days ago. it wouldnt kick over with a kick start so i had to push start. on cold starts if i let go of the throttle it dies and if i give it some throttle it dies until warm you can give it throttle all you want but still when you let go of the throttle it bogs out. i cleaned the carb and new spark plug cant seem to figure it out any help would be great

ok...

whats the current compression?

Whats the result of your leak down test?

What have you tried to do to fix it?

What did you do/try to do to it before it started acting up?

What do you mean it wouldnt kick over?

^^^^ hes the man.... and have you adjusted the fuel mixture screw? mine was having the same problem i adjust that and its perfect... also the cold start are you leaving the fuel on when you store it i didnt the first couple days i had mine and then it was flooded and would start without a push start

havent gave it a compression or leak down test i tried fixing it by cleaning the carb and put a new spark plug in i didnt do anything to it before it started acting up just drove it and it wouldnt start with a kick start i had to push start it for it to start

Well not to sound like a dick, but when you don't maintain things, especially things like 2 stroke motors with tolerances as close as 3 thousandths of an inch and critical air fuel ratios, they tend to malfunction. Go clean and oil the airfilter, do a leak down test and a compression test, then come back and give us the results and we can go from there.

no thats useful information im also new to 2 strokes so its something i should know i was also looking up jetting the carb im gonna do that aswell. as for oiling the air filter i use 2 stroke oil?

you use air filter oil on the air filter

and check everything that phragle said to check, we can better help you after you help yourself

ok so i tore down the engine today and found that the piston was demolished and the cylinder and head was pretty scarred up so it looks like time for the big bore kit but which one is better? also im looking to replace the cranshaft aswell any suggestions would be great

whats your budget? cause if you have the coin and you promise to take care of it we'll tell you what needs to be done to have a fire breather , but you have to promise , 3 times you have to promise .......

ahh man my budget is LOW lol but i always promise to take care of her thats my baby i was waiting for that piston to blow i got some pics of it im waiting to throw up in a lil bit

if the budget is low , don't plan on any major motor work , bore and hone and a piston kit won't be expensive , you will also need a gasket kit , those can be had on ebay very cheap . Does it need a new crank? do you suspect it for some reason? if no then stay with it and put that money into a good pipe . I suggest a FMF Fatty and Powercore 2 Silencer . get rid of the stock airbox and just run a pod unifilter off the carb , you'll need to re-jet for that , depending on elevation you will need to run a 280-300 mainjet in the stock carb . You need to break it in correctly , and you also need to do a compression test and leak down test . Search the site , find out how to do those tests , they will be your best friend .

crank seem to moving smoothly gonna check for any up and down or side to side play in it i know the leak down and compression tests im gonna check them out after i get the kit i already have an fmf fatty gold series with im not sure muffler im changing that anyways and i live in philly so its the city im not sure about the elevation there ill prolly need help with jetting
