Ok, about a week ago i was riding on the street and it automaticly shut off, then i tried to jump start it 3 times, but still nothing the engine felt like it was cycling for a second each time i let go of the clutch moving in 3rd gear. Then when i got home i cleaned the air filter, tried to start it and it only started with the choke on. Then i found a ring or clamp around the carb that was missing a screw. I tighten that up all the way and replaced the screw and put a new spark plug in. Turned it on it idled for about 7 seconds when it was warm. Then i rode it down my drive way and back a few times and when i put it in nuetral without giving it little gas it shuted off, and wouldnt start for 2 cicks so i didnt want to ruin anything. I went underneath the engine and noticed where the exaust connects to the engine it was all wet with fuel, and im not sure but the rubber tube from the carb, there are 3, but 1 on the back or middle that is long and not connected to anything.

that tube shouldnt be connected to anything because thats your overflow

alright you guys can probably solve my problem from here. Ok i have a new spark plug in there and each time it will idle then stop, when it stops i take out the sparkplug and it turned from clean to wet and black, i did it about 3 times same response. Then this morning i saw black stuff on the ground from the engine, i went underneath and where the exaust screws into the engine and below that there is this chunky glue black fuel i dont know what it is but it took about 15 minuites to get half of it off and my hands are still black from it, what could this be, and it does not even feel like oil, it is very thick black, any body know what can the problem be. i don't know how this thick crap manage to drip but it was sitting in the garage for at least 18 hours. Any body knows what the problem is and what to fix?

I bet the quad is dirty. The dirt fuel and oil will make this gunk you are talking about. Get a carb kit with a needle and seat. When you take apart the carb remove the floats and drop them in a cup of gas if the floats drop to the bottom of the cup then you will need new floats as well.

oops before you remove the floats you can also test the needle by simply blowing in the main gas line on the carb. While blowing into the carb push down on the floats if you are able to blow air into the carb with the floats in the closed position then you have found the problem. Still check the floats as I talked about before. BTW cheep oil and low octane fule will cause this gunk in the carb and so will a dirty air cleaner.
