Hi
I want to change the gear ratio, but what do i tell the guy at the shop, because i want the best gear ratio for Dunes.
Anyone have any suggestions?

prolly depends on the dunes ....mostly flat, open or rolling dunes i'd say 14/40
if large dunes/hills..stock 13/39 or even 12 tooth front
why do you wanna change it ??? more speed ????..... 14/40

but what do i know ???, i live in the mountains

what kinda motor mods u got?

Huge factor. I was using 14/38 in some really thick sand up in ct this past summer. I have vids on here of me screaming up a vertical dune hill and still spinning all the way up. With a good port job and other mods you can pull it off, but If you have stock or basic mods prolly just stay 13/40 maybe 14/40 depending on the kind of sand your in and what kind of stuff you plan on climbing.

Ive got porting, vforce, toomey exhaust kit, jetting, and bigger bore wiseco piston.

Large dunes, soft sand.... the works

more teeth on the front sprocket = more top speed; less teeth on the rear also = more top speed. Just try 14/40 for starters, I think you will be happy with that and the mods you have. Let us know how it goes.

Speaking of which, are you really in Dubai? Probably got a lot of sand there....

If you are going to be climbing alot of hills, I would say stick with the 13/40 stock ratio. If you've got more motor than stock, or the terrain varies with flats then try out the 14/40 for the fun of it. The added top-speed is a kick. The front sprocket is such an easy change, you can even do it in the field to compare them.

More importantly, you have paddles, right?

id leave stock gearing if your doing big sand hills often, turning paddles takes more power in sand then spinning non-paddle tires. id leave it stock and see what u think before spending money on sprockets u might not like

Yes I really do live in Dubai, thats why i wanted to know about the gear ratio for sand dunes, and i've got 4snow tires for now, but i can easily get paddles, they are sold everywhere.
And ya, im going to be climbing a lot of hills.
Off topic question: I found this cooling kit for the Blaster, and since its always hot around here I thought i might get it, you anything about this?
Thanks

im thinking of gettin the 14t front with the stock rear for now. am i gonna need to get a bigger chain?? or am i good? as for mods, im runnin with Vforce2, full fmf, k&n air filter, no lid, and waiting on a dyno jet kit and reed spacers. with all these mods am i good for the 18t and still have good low end? and maybe with the 40t rear? and again am i gonna need a new chain?

To be honest the cooling head is a waste of money. It's really only cooling the head and not the cylinder.Properly jetted and no air leaks and you should not have many problems with overheating.

Your chain should be fine, you just need to readjust it.

im thinking of getting 14/40 now would i neeed a chain then? i guess thats what im hearing is the best gearing. so let me ask u guys this, i have Vforce2, FMF turbinecore2 full, k&n air no lid. would the 14/40 be good with my mods? and if i will need a bigger chain if so what size and where to look? also right now i have 8x8 stock rear rims on 20x11. i might buy these 20x10x10 which will change my gearing anyway to more top speed right? i like a faster low end and more top speed too because i do alot of flat riding and racing my friends

your kinda jackin this guys thread buuut, the tire size is 20 so its not going to change anything. you can try the 14/40 and see if you like it. you should not need a bigger chain, just an adjustment.
