Is there anything I should know or look for when purchasing a used blaster. I know about the changes that took place in 2003. Is there anything else I should know before purchasing one?

just make sure it goes into all the gears good listen to the top end and cheack the brakes before you buy it
Check if its getting spark, fuel, compression, ask if the tors has been removed, and also ask about the oil injection if its been removed or not.
pop the seat off and see if the air box and filter is there the first blaster i bought didnt have no filter or airbox
take a hold of the grab bar and move it side to side to see if theres any play in the rear axle or swingarm area
^ i agree, also looks for small cracks anywhere, and feel for play in the wheel bearings and axle bearings as stroker mentioned
check the quad over well. If the quad looks beat it probably is. Check all the things that are going to cost you a bit to replace if they are borken. ie tires suck to have to replace rite away, shot bottom end, bad tranny, top end rebuild. Small problems are ok. Then check it over for cracks in the frame and such....Just look it over. we all know what a good quality bike looks like and what crap looks like.
