ok my blaster is in the shop getting the top end work all done becuase i ran out of time with it, but they say that the rod is bad, meaning it has a little bit of play in it! And they also said i was looking at around $600-$700 for them to split the cases and replace it? is that normal, and will it last if it doesnt get changed? they said it would last a while but they really didnt know how long! But would it be any easier to get it back and buy a whole new one and try to do it myself? or just leave it?

i would get it back and do it yourself thats nuts man only way u learn how to do something is to try it.and im sure people on here will help out best we can i would tell them to go get f*cked..

well their doing my hole top end for $120 bucks(thats including the parts),which is real good around here, but will i need anything besides a crank assembely and a gasket kit? and how do you split the cases? screw driver and BFH? lol... ???

ok, my old man's going to help me out with this so i can do it myself! but where can i get a good crank assembly with bearings and seals?(price wise also) and gasket set? i dont want a stroker!

firstly, measure the play you say you have in the rod.. you will have some in a new one, so be sure before you spend the cash... secondly, why not get a stroker? you dont like more power? a +3mm crank will do the job fine and will not require any case modification like a +4mm does.. and will cost you about $125-$150 tops... a new OEM will cost double that.... i would go with a good name brand crank bearing set (pivot works/all balls/etc.) an since your in there, replace all the oils seals, really any brand will work for this (i went with K&S when i did mine) an splitting cases aint no thang... just take your time and be gentle...if you arent in a hurry and do it right, with the right parts/tools, it will pay off in folds for you in the long run.

ok cool..thanks..so if i do get the 3mm stroker i wont have to do anything eles? just put it in like an OEM? but the only thing i was worried about was it creating more heat on the head and cause future problems! (maybe warping the head?) is this common or no?
