hey guys. im wondering if i should try and put a vitos 3mm stroker crankshaft in my blaster. i was reading somewhere on here that the 3mm crank doesnt require any case modification and comes with a spacer plate so the head wont need milled over to make room for the longer stroke of the crankshaft. i priced with parts if should be alil over 200 bucks to do with the crank shaft being 160 and crankshaft bearings being 36 buck and a complete gasket set being 23 buck. anyone have any imput on this i would appriceate it.:)

90% of the time they will drop right in. some may require a little clearancing at the top of the cases. you should be able to do this yourself, with decent mechanical ability. you will notice a little more power and torque, nothing huge though without porting. the ports need adjusted to get the most out of the added stroke. hope that helps.

imo, i wouldn't do a +3 without porting. If you are gunna do a crank, u may aswell kill all your birds with one stone. If you are on a budget, start upgrading things that will be needed along with this mod. A cut head is a good start, and for around 60 bucks adds considerable power. A 30-33mm carb is also a good venture, as well as reeds and an airfilter such as a uni.

oh ok. well my motor aint completely stock. its .60 over with aggressive trail porting a full fmf exhaust with 34mm pj carb and 2 stage carbon fiber reeds and aftermarket reed cage i believe.

well then it will not need much work done to get it making good power, only the port heights adjusted. same deal though, you will see minimal gains over how it runs now. it will make an improvement, but no where near the best it could be.

and i was thinking if i should replace my namura piston with a wiseco piston. can i just buy a .60 over weisco piston and it just slide right in?

you will have to have the bore checked out and measured to know what size piston will work or if you need to bore over to get it back in shape. no one can tell you that without having the parts there to check them out.

do you know about how much it will cost to get the ports adjusted for it? it cost alil under 100 to get the porting that was done on it

oh and if i get the stroker crank and install it will it hurt anything if i dont get the port height adjusted for it right away and run it with out doing that?

will usually run about 150 to get the ports adjusted and another 50 to modify the head. as long as you run the spacer plate without getting the porting or head done you will be fine.

ok thank you. thats wat i was wondering bc i didnt really wanna send the cylinder tothe shop again and wait to have it back.

oh and on other thing i just thought of if i put a stroker 3mm crank in it will i still be able to run pump gas or have to use high octane gas or somthing special??

You will have to run 93 gas. If your not going to get your ports adjusted for the stroked crank, you will see better power increase by going with a better pipe instead of going with the crank.

That's a good pipe for low end if your running tight trails but a Rite bend pipe or Toomey pipe will give better power. I run a right bend F7 pipe on mine and love it.

oh ok. thats what i do mostly is trail riding. would the fmf be a good pipe to use with a stroker crank?

an fmf will be fine for low end to midrange power. there are better choices out there for modded engines though. i would think if you taked to one of the builders on here that they would adjust the ports cheaper than $150. they are not going to rework everything and change angles for less. but adjusting the height is not as involved. and if your current porting was done good it will really rip.
