VF4's vs. Boyseen Pro Series

Moto Tassanari - V-Force refer to themselves as "Air Superiority"
it's not just a gimmick :)

Jetting probably won't change but should be checked.
and I do believe the V-F cage is slightly thicker than a stock cage and will push the carb back slightly.
I've switched back and forth between stock and V-F and not had to do anything different involving carb/airbox boot.

if you run a reed spacer ? it must go in front of the V-F's, not behind them, the center section depends on the intake to hold it firmly into the cage while under cylinder back pressure.

Yea no spacer. I think I'm gonna pick up a set. Considering I need to do a plug chop for the new exhaust, I'll install them prior. Ill make sure to put a bit of yamabond between gasket and block and boot, for added comfort.

So I got the 4's today. The instructions say to cut the rubber tab off inside the manifold. Is this right?

i was going to say i remember people putting them on dirt bikes in videos, and saying they had to cut boot??......
i've only had the 2's on a blaster as well, bought it like that,at the time:)

Alright so I put the 4's on. Honestly I feel like my boyseens had better throttle response. However I changed a couple variables.

I went up to a 340 main, however I didn't chop it yet, but the motor ran cooler. And it ran fine up top.

The 4's pushed my carb back at least a 1/4". Torwards the rear. My powerband changed. It comes on a little later. I am running a Toomey so I know it favors the top, but with the boyseens it came on quicker. Could pushing the carb back put the powerband later in the revs, like a spacer? Or is my air screw not dialed in yet.

Seemed a little sluggish until it hit, almost like a bog, but not bogging. Hope it makes sense.

If it did actually move the reeds back and added to the ccv (crank case volume) than yes it would do as a reed spacer and move the power band up a bit. You may need to do a little fine tuning of the jetting also to rid of the sluggishness < (don't know if that is even a word )

Yes, being as your carb is pushed back further it will favor more of the top end. Just like a reed spacer. You may also need a little fine tuning of your jetting which should help in the sluggishness < (don't know if that is even a word).
Yea that's what I thought. It performs just like my LRD without the leaky flange.
