afternoon all!

i notice there are a few UK riders on here..

where are you all based? where do you currently ride?

and anyone have any aftermarket bits for sale? for some reason it wont let me post in the wanted section.

if not, where do you currently buy your aftermarket bits from in the uk? or do you go across the pond and get them shipped in?

cheers
Dan

im in scotland myself i buy most of the parts off ebay or rockymountain. rockymountain you don't pay import duty and there good prices.

i currently use local tracks within a 20 mile radius as i don't drive and have to borrow a van :)

ah i see!

you are miles away from me! im down here in essex.

i was thinking of sending my moter to Ian E Racing to have a 4mm stroker but i am unsure of his work.

has anyone experienced it first hand?

regards
Dan

Hi Dan,

Were based in Chepstow (just over the Severn bridge from Bristol) and we ride all over the country depending where the races are being held, one race could be in Devon and the next in north oxford. We have a private enduro track (rough trails) and mx track on the farm to practice on (we may host some races here in the future).

i've seen some UK guys mention Ian E doing OK work, not sure of his build skills though ?

Dan,
Honestly, for less money you could just go with a 3mm stroker and fit it yourself as minimal (none in most cases) case modification is needed and send your cylinder and head for port work and a head mod to Ken O'Connor racing who is definitely my recommendation, i had my cylinder and head shipped to him for only £34 and had it aggressive trail ported, the head modified, the cylinder bored and honed and new wiseco piston and all top end gaskets all for £360 including return shipping.

Hi phil

Sounds cool!

I'm actually a jet skier but also ride mx from time to time. I had a blaster when I was younger and this little blasty popped up on ebay and I thought ah why not!

It's turned into a full strip and replace every nut and bolt!

The frame is nearly done now so now I want to progress with the engine

As Ian e was in the uk I was going to stick with him but I have read great things about this ken o Connor

How does his work compare to a stock blasty? Night and day difference?

Do you run a 3mm strokes yourself?

It really is night and day for sure, the mods that i had done should double the stock 17 bhp to around mid 30's.
I don't personally run a stroker but if you are seeking more than mid 30's for power the it is definitely an option, The cylinder would need to be ported to make use of the lengthened stroke fully anyway.

If you are just sort of starting out on the blaster then mid 30's is plenty of power. Personally i would rather trust a builder who has the reputation, not bashing this ian e guy but his reputation is much smaller than ken's is.

I was a bit discouraged at the prospect of shipping to the US but it really is no biggie and his turnaround time is pretty fast too. If you have your mind set on a stroker then it is a lot more work than the port job and head mod etc for a smaller power increase so IMO it should be done along with these mods but Ken would need the whole engine if you went with a stroker as the cranks and cases will differ in dimensions somewhat so the port timing will need to compensate.

Many thanks for your opinion!

i fully understand where your coming from on sending the whole engine to the states, i was going to go down the stroker route if i was going to stay within the uk and send it to Ian E.

i think you may have persuaded me to send my cylinders to the states and have them ported etc.

once i have the frame sorted, i will get in contact with ken and see what his magic does!

Cheers
Dan

I'm in u.k we recently parted out a full race bike only thing we have left is a lengthened chrome lonestar anti vibe steering stem with clamps.

As for Ian E most of his prices work out the same as kens even when shipping ur cylinder across the world and back. I would go for kens work he knows his stuff and I've NEVER heard one complaint.

Sounds like Ken knows his stuff! Ill be sending my cylinder on a world wide trip it seems then.

Cheers for the info lads.

Ill start a build thread soon
