I am new to this thread and new to blasters! But i recently bought a 2001 blaster to fix up. I'm waiting on my wheels and tires to come in and im done! But i got one question, when i take the plug out where you put in trany oil, i see nothing? how much oil should the trany have in it? and how do you know its full? The plug does not have a dip stick on it! Thank You for any answers or help!

It's around 3/4 of a quart. There is a site glass on the side of the trans but I don't even look at it, I change the oil frequently and use a measuring cup thats a quart size. If you look in the manual it'll tell you how much oil it takes and thats what I go by.

ok Thank You . But im not sure if theres a sight glass or not for the tranny but i'll check it out. But once i get the specs ill know how much should be in it! Any one have a owners manual or shop manual for an 2001 blaster with the specs in it?

The owner's manual calls for 0.69 quarts of oil. There is a how-to on changing the transmission oil in the DIY section that should help you out if you have any other questions.

well thanks all for the answers. and sorry for sounding like such a dumb ass but iv always owned 4 strokes until i bought this blaster for the old lady!!so i really didnt know!!lol

ok now my next question is. When i start the bike up it runs fine on and off of choke for a minute or two until it warms up then it will idel for a few seconds and shuts off, when you give it gas to try to keep it running it just dies. Now after getting the bike warmed up when you start to let out on the clutch it will die! You have to keep it revved out to take off and ones you start going it doesnt have any power until you get it to the power band! it acts like carb. issues to me but im not sure, any one eles have these problems? like i said, iv never owned a 2 stroke before.

It did this when i bought it and i rebuilt the carb a few days ago but it still does the same thing!

It might be the cold weather up north, you need to be richer as temps drop.
Or it could be a air leak. Try leaving the choke on, if it runs better you might consider jetting it.
