How's it going I have a 02 yamaha blaster and was riding it the other day and went to turn around and it cut off went to kick start it and it was jamed I just changed the kick start spring and it's still jamed and won't shift thru all the gears any idea on what is going on? Thanks in advance

So that explains why it won't shift thru all gears lol but no it doesn't run motor has compression kick start just won't budge

what im getting at is this
did the rear tires lock up when it stalled?
if they did it is not your kickstarter.
either flywheel/stator jammed or piston broke...
sooo if you put it in gear can you rotate the rear tires or by the flywheel or summin?

took the top off the head and this is what I found tires are locked won't budge in gear

wait let me rephrase that a bit.
in neutral take off plastic flywheel cover and see if you can spin flywheel with your hand.
you can also try taking out spark plug and spinning it by hand it will spin easier but make sure the area is clean you dont want dirt falling in there...

if you cant rotate it then there is your answer

Yup I put it in neutral and took the spark plug out and won't spin dang what do you think my next step should be?

its up to you lol
more then likely it is the top end
either piston broke or connecting rod bearing is seized.
or flywheel is hitting stator...without a puller you cant get it off
but you can take top end off lol
something is jammed

various way of inspecting but you need to find out why it is not rotating

That's a neat trick. Please explain.
I thought the same thing lol.

If you cant get it to kick over, its not a kicker problem. its somewhere else in the engine
Not once have i heard about the kicker itself (or the splines on it) fail and/or jam. its always a locked up engine

Now you have to take the top end off to assess the damage

Well I put it in top gear before I changed the kick start spring took the spark plug out and rolled it with a little force and heard the piston going up and down that's why I figured it had compression but after changing the spring and didn't work I tryed the same method and nothing

Another method of compression testing has been added to the archives along with the " it blows my thumb off the plug hole" , " I cannot push the kicker down with my hand" , " it feels like it has compression", " my buddy told me it is ok".!
