Hey guys ive had my blaster for over a year now and its time to trade up. Im looking at a 04 400ex. Now ive ridden the 400 for about 3 minutes but never extensively. The 400 was faster but not a whole lot faster. I was wondering if the 400 will be any more comfortable than a blaster and will it handle better. I cannot get burned on this because i just turned 15. I got a job about 6-7 months ago and from the minute i started i was saving up for a quad. I have worked probably 400+ hours so i cant just get some junk quad. Please help

Keep the blaster and put some money into the motor and suspention and smoke the sh*t out of those stock 400's. sorry for the language little dude. lol

Im not putting mponey into the blaster because its not mine my dad bought it and it is going to be my little brothers first big quad. I know that for the price of a 400 i can make the blaster faster but i want something with better brakes and a little bit bigger with electric start. ( i dont care about the language thanks though)

not a lot of choice for me in the 2 stroke market either a 250r or a banshee and banshees are too unrelaible and the 250r is too old so looks like the 4 stroke is going to have to do. Loved my 2 stroke though if there was another choice i would go 2 over 4 stroke any day

wh says 2 strokes are unreliable its only like that if u dont take care of it and a 250r may be old but if i was u id spring for it dirt wheels tested it not to long ago and it compared to new 450s

we rode with highly modded 400ex at busco, punched to 416cc's, head work,
luni tunes dual exhaust, and after one good half hour rip thru the trails,
the dude(stevo) said, and i qoute...." i cannot believe how quick them blasters are, you guys pull away from me so easy in these trails"
go head, get the 400, but dont come back on here cryin when your little brother starts smokin your ass

Hey thanks guys for the info but i dont want another blaster i loved it i just think mabey i would be fun to have something different. And i know what you mean when you say the blasters pull away on the tight trails. We went out last weekend and i was on the blaster and my dad on his predator. He was in front and i couldnt belive how much faster i was that the giant pred

yea man get the 250r it is only like the best quad ever. but if you go for 4 pokers try to up a lil more and get a 450 that would be alot better than a 400ex. and personally i would get a z400 b4 a ex

I know its a blaster forum, but if you can trade for a 400ex I think it's a no brainer. Unless you have a completely built blaster the 400 is gonna be better in just about every catagory.

why do u need electric start. keep it maintained good and it should only need a few kicks. if u want something good for the track and stuff get a 250r. if u wanna go fast get a banshee. if someone offered to trade me a nice modded 250r for my shee right now i would say hell yes!! the new 450's are nice but expensive, a 250r with the same amount of money put into it would probably beat it.

Winter is coming...... common sense tells me to not buy a quad right now. wait til it snows pretty bad. by then you will have more money saved and people will be willing to sell cheaper so maybe you will be able to get a 450 or something

I bought my Blaster, $400 with a blown top end stock everything. New top end plus pro circuit pipe $300. First time I ever went trail riding there was this kid there with a pretty nice piped 400ex that he had just got for $1900. We drag raced several times and we were neck and neck shift for shift gears 1-5. When raced I was just kinda feeling it out hanging at the top of 5th waiting for him to shift and I realized that was all he had. The look on his face when I did grab 6th..priceless. But yeah, I agree with everyone who tried to point you toward a 450, especially about buying quads in the winter(snowmobiles in the summer etc).
