so i ordered a kit to get rid of the tors system on my 01 blaster. i know that you have to drill a new idle screw in and i wanted to make sure it was done right so i wouldnt ruin my carb and have to buy a new one. i went to a local shop where my blasters been worked on before and i described what i wanted them to do. the owner said that he could be fined for drilling into the carb and said it was a horrible idea to mess with it and that he hasnt head of any problems with the tors system. he said that whoever im getting this info from isnt very smart... all the info ive gotten has been from countless threads from this site. haha. just wondering what all you guys think of this

just read the instructions in the kit, you can do it !!!!
remember to file the end of the "boss" down flat where the jamb nut will seat

oh, and that shop dude is an idiot, run away, run away !!!!!!

haha. i found a step by step way to do it with pics on this site. its just the drilling im a little iffy on. but since my blaster is an 01 i already disconnected the wires that go to the tors system. so i might just return the eliminator and use the money to get something else. the only reason i got the kit is to get rid of the tors on top of the carb because its pointless now

pointless for tors, but your idle screw works thru it,
won't hurt a thing to keep it like it is

Keeping the disconnected TORS on for now is ok. Down the road when you get into wanting more mods, you can just get a bigger carb . All you will need then is the TORS delete cable.

thats a good idea. i think that im gonna return the kit and use the $ to fix my front brakes because they're really weak. its probably what i shouldve done in the 1st place. haha

YOu can drill it and i tell ya what, I have a stock carb off of my second rebuild, I will donate it to you if you mess yours up free of charge! That's how confident I am you can do that. If you'd like I would drill the required hole in the carb before I send it to you!

And the guy at the shop is a coroprate jackwagon!

This shop guy is in this bussiness and never heard of this? There are only a boat load of mfg. producing eliminator kits for TORS. Must be a" bunch of idiots "! I guess we cant all be as smart as him!

it really does suck when youcant stop. i was ridin around the yard with no brakes in 1st gear only. i thought i was gonna run through my shed when i put it away. lol

and thanks for the confidence slickerthanyou.

hahaha. the shop owner thinks hes all that cuz hes got 30yrs racing and building experience. he does know a lot. but he shouldnt have given info on stuff he didnt. ex: the tors system

Throttle Over-Ride System. i'll let someone who knows more details than i do explain it and there are multiple threads on here that will tell you also

whooooo 100th post! lol
i looked it up, and it said that it shuts off the bike if the throttle gets suck at a certain point for an extended period of time.... but what else does it do? and such?

haha. congrats. i gotta little ways before i hit 100. havent really been on the site a lot.

as far as i know, thats all its supposed to do. but ive heard from multiple people that the TORS does more harm than good

Dealer wants to be able to sell you a complete new tors $$$, Throttle Override Retarded $hit. IIRC saw someone priced it out, $400. Getting rid of the brick makes way easier to jet. By the time you pay to ship back and maybe re-stock charge are you going to have much left? Plus you still have new cable for new carb later.

BTW, mine malfunctioned in light rain, stopped multiple times to dry out throttle housing. That's before I learned I could have just disconnected it.

lol ulll get there

yea thats what i heard too. ehhhh mines fine, so i think i will leave it alone ahahh :P y fix something if its not broken?

yeah. mines disconnected already so it wont affect anything while riding. but like Larry said, it makes it a lot easier to jet which in turn means it'll be easier just to mess with in general cuz there wont be a big hunk of metal sittin on top of the carb anymore
