Someone gave me the idea in my previous thread about a top end rebuilt...cuz the guy who sold me the atv doesn't have an air filter and may have F'd everything up.....anybody have time to give a 'round about' procedure lemme know.....or do i even need to do so???....PICS OF "NO AIR FILTER"

yeah for sure that cylinder is going to be f*cked right up. how long ago did u get it? you should consider getin your money back because if he doesnt run an air filter, i can tell you right now, he did not take care of this blaster and you will have many problems.

i wouldnt think so unless it has low compression or somthing is broken! is the bike not running right or what? get that filter on there and clean the carb real good and it should be fine! also mix your gas a little rich to help lube up the top end and clean out some of the dirt that may be in there!

for what its worth it may not be that bad. you can always take the top end apart and look at the condition, and if it is ok put it back together. there is a DIY on a tonp end rebuild in the DIY section. take a look. its easy.

i would just take the cylinder head off, its only 6 bolts and than u dont have to mess with the piston, and see how bad the walls are inside, but if it runs, i would leave it for now, and deffinitly get an airfilter and clean the carb

89 he said it ran in his other thread but not good he had to clean the carb for it to run good .. yeaa i would get a filter befor u ride it again ... i would pop the head off and see how your cylinder walls looks and your piston..

i just said that because the cylinder i bought had masive no airfilter damage. almost unusable. i have to resleeve next bore/maybe piston if it causes problems. and also, you probably have a bunch of sh*t in the crank case, might have a bunch of sand in the bearings, crank eveyrhwere. and since he didnt have an airfilter, problably didnt change oil much, or do any maitnence. its just a matter of how much he took care of it.

yeaa maybe but the air box looks pretty clean .. and the guy he got it off of prolly did alot of riding on the streets..

I say if it runs then dont mess with it. no point in fixin something that isnt broke! the air box does look really clean and not all nasty.

are you both serious? look at the gunk in it. it looks like he poured mud into it. hes probably ran mud through the carb and into the engine. just look at it. not being a dick, but he was hard on it and thats all there is to it.

I am being serious 89. If there were a major problem with the quad then it would not be running. Yes it doesnt have an air filter and it does have some dirt in the airbox but, if it runs, and if he cleans the carb out well then run it.

thanks to all!! carb is clean and just turned it on to run idle for now....When yall talk of changing oil, do u mean Gear oil....im gonna do that before i ride again too, and i have been mixing oil into gas, 32:1. Imma give that air filter housing a good clean....change gear oil, and it should be Hopefully running fine. If anybody know where i could get some pipes from the internet let me know!!!

yea change the gear oil put some good stuff in .. did u remove the oil injection ? i guess u did if u are premixing .. umm u can get a pipe off here or ebay ..
