I just got a 97 blaster and the top end is no good. Ive been looking around for a kit to buy. But they all seem to have bad reviews and alot of people claim them to be junk. The top end it has on it right now is that $90 one off ebay and is completly shot. This is my first project on doing anything like this so i kind of dont want to buy the wrong thing and then get screwed in the end. I just want to see if someone can point me in the correct direction as to what parts are quality and worth the money.

Buy a used genuine Yamaha cylinder and head off of eBay. Try to find one closest to the stock 66mm bore, Take it to a reputable motorcycle machine shop, or where most of us send ours to.... http://www.kenoconnorracing.com

and have them fit a new piston rings to it.
Buy or have them provide a factory gasket set also.

Do it right the first time and get years of reliable service and stop wasting $90-ish on Chinese junk over and over.
