this a good bb place

would this be a good shop to send my jug to have it made into a big bore jug?
BLASTER
im planning on doing the 240cc Big Bore Blaster Motor Package......$595.00
or this
Yamaha YFM 200 Blaster 240 Big Bore Kit

Tough call. I like CT's sonic cylinder setup but that's damn expensive but at 40hp with dyno proof, that's a nice setup. If you send your stock cylinder in and get it ported and bored by them, you will probably be pulling around 35-36hp.....ballpark guess. A lot of people have been big on LA Sleeve BBK, but a lot of others know more about the available BBKs than myself, so I'll defer. :D

a guy near me has a entire engine for sale. it has a +3mm stroker crank, and a vitos 240 big bore kit professionally ported. he wants 700. if you want, i am going over there tomorrow. i can snap pics if you want.

i would go with the la sleeve in the second link then just pic up a intake and reed valve off egay or something. if you really wanna make that baby haul the mail send it out for some porting. I:I

You can have your cylinder turned into a 240 and you will get some good power. In order to get the best you will need to go with a completely new designed cylinder like the CT or the Airsal kits. I have had many different builders put 240's together and they just don't hold a candle to the new cylinders.

Yep. Adding 40cc in displacement in and of itself, doesn't do a whole hell of lot other than adding maybe 2-3hp and bottom end power with the right setup. 240 kits like CTs Sonic cylinder drop them and make their own with completely revised port mapping all around so they are not restricted by the stock cylinders limits. This enables CT to use CR250 reed cages and all that jazz since it fits their intake. In a lot of senses, you are buying a new engine after that.

There's a lot of power to be had without going to a Big bore kit.

You can send the stock top end off to be ported and get a good pipe. A 30-33mm carburetor with a good pipe and a good porting job would REALLY open that thing up.

so what does a good port job cost, and would a 30-33mm mikuica carb work?
also what about reeds and is uni the better air filter than k&n?

second link is not right as they picture a la sleeve kit but say u need to send your stock jug and head into them as they sleeve it and machine it them selves which is bull if its really a la sleeve kit. best bet is to just call ken oconnor racing

ken charges 150.00 for porting and vf3 reeds and the carb u mentioned would work fine yes the uni is considered better also

VF3s are expensive reeds/reed cage. I ran VF2s and didn't notice any difference between them and just putting the Boyesen reeds on the stock cage. I just run carbon fiber Boyesen dual stage replacement reeds that you put on the stock reed cage. They are still pricey at like $60 when I bought them....$55 on Rocky Mountain ATV....but a lot less than the VF3s.

what about theses reeds?
Boyesen Power Reeds - Blaster ATV Parts
and then do i need a different intake for that 30mm carb?

It's an upgrade, but the dual stage pro series/VF3s are better. If you bore the stock carb out to 30ish mm, then no you don't need a new manifold. However, if you buy an aftermarket one that varies depending on which aftermarket carb you buy. If you are running stock cylinder with mods, I think the optimal setup is a Keihin 33PWK.....it's too big for the stock intake. I'm dremeling the inside of mine down to make it fit into the intake boot.
