What type of riding do you do?
You may be happy with the gains of just a port job. That is your best bang for the buck. Mill your head while you're at it, and you should be well pleased with the performance gain. But if you are set on getting a 240 kit, I would recommend buying from someone who also does porting, and get it done at the same time, or you will be trying to feed 240 cc's with the same crappy stock port layout.
A good port job will net you close to 10 hp. An unported 240 cyl will not be near that gain. A ported 240 kit will probly net you 12-14 hp gain. Now once you have the 240 kit, your other mods like bigger carbs and better pipes will give better gains than with stock bore.
But, in my opinion, it is more cost effective to just get a port job. If you want to go all out on speed, save your money and buy a Banshee. You will get VERY noticeable gains from a good port job.
I met up with a guy at the dunes who had an UNported 240 kit, carb, extended swingarm, 9 paddle haulers, all blinged out.
I had a .060" overbore with a port job from RB Racing, stock everything else except for Pro Circuit pipe, Boysen reeds, jetted, and K&N filter, and 7 paddle Haulers. I beat him 9 out of 10 times. Why? He was feeding that big engine through the stock ports.
I simply made mote power than him and had a better setup....Porting is the way to go with the Blaster. You will be plentyfast and you can save money for a Banshee!
