Starts right up and then quits

2006 Blaster all done up for racing... new Keihin carb jetted, Pyramid reeds, high flow factory7 airbox, factory7 pipe, and much more.

The bike was working fantastic!... My son just finished up his race and we washed the bike. Started it up to put it in the trailer to go home and it ran for 4 seconds and quit. Ever since then it starts up and then quits after four seconds. You can play with the throttle and it will rev or you can let it idle but it still quits after about 4 seconds.

Now I know a lot about this stuff but I am pretty stumped here. I have checked all the grounds including the yellow wire from the cd box that neds to go to ground as part of the TORS removal on newer Blasters. I have removed and checked/cleaned the carb, checked for fuel flow, it has spark obviously as it starts ( but I can't check if it is loosing spark after four seconds as it fires right back up two seconds after it quits).

I am wondering if it may be CD box issue or coil.

Anyone have any ideas? It is acting exactly like it did when I first removed the TORS and didn't ground the yellow wire off the CD box...start then quit but like I said, I checked that ground is good and the kill switch works and it uses the same ground wire. There are no other electricals on the bike. I made the harness myself ( no lights or anything else and you only have five wires left ) so there is no trouble there... no chance anything is shorting or anything like that.

We are racing next weekend so any help is appreciated.

While washing it you may have gotten water into the stator compartment, if you havent already opened, then you should try... just 5 screws on your clutch side and the cover is off.

I took the stator cover off and looked for any moisture and there were just one or two drops. I don't know if that was the problem or if it was water somewhere else but I let it sit with the cover off for a day and then started it up... Runs like a top once again. I am planning to put the cover back on with just a bit of auto silicone. The seal looks brand new but what the heck.
Thanks much for your suggestion.

Your not getting fuel.
Look for a clogged fuel filter if you have one,
stuck floats in the carb.
Jes for the hell of it give your carb a good wrap with some
wood. On more then one occasion it has worked for me.

1 or 2 drops is enough as there was probably more where you couldn't see it (that dried out also) from my experience the blaster is very sensitive to having any water in there.

I wouldn't worry about the silicone, the gasket was probably just dry, put some motor oil on your finger and run it around the gasket and it should be ok.

Nice job on the Fix! I actually was wondering this myself if a bit of moisture could effect it that much. My cover has a wack of silocone on it. I am going to order a new gasket!

Not to jack this thread I just think its good info for a newbie like me!

Congrats hope she runs good!
