gotta split my cases :(
i bent the shift shaft and i need some help, on a scale of 1-10 how hard would this be, i know i have to take basically the whole motor apart

man im in the same delema, except, my +4 strokers main connecting rod bearing is shot and i need to take the crank out, so i too have to split my case. im almost there, doing it tomrow. when do you plan on doing it? we can trade info and experiences. what years ur blaster? im trying to find any info/stuff i need to split it and get it all apart and back together, ill let you know of anything or if i find some good instructions.

alright, sounds good 89custom! mines a 92, im so mad cause i would be so much farther in my rebuild, the shift shaft leaks transmission fluid,

well im not sure whos going to have more trouble taking this apart and doing the work lol. mine seems simple enough, just a bearing, but supposebly i have to rebuilt the whole crank and possibly machine the end with the broken bearing because it might be f*cked up. its alright though cuz my dads company does machining and it would be free and take like 20 mins cuz there crazy good.

u gotta pull your flywheel, which is pretty hard. i tried to take the flywheel out and stripped the thread. then i had to torch the thing off and screwed my crankshaft while i was at it lol. If you can remember where all the gears go, you should be in good shape. Take your motor to a shop for them to remove your flywheel.... learn from my mistake, dont try to force your flywheel off.

What!! Try buying the $10 tool off ebay, denniskirk, rmatv, any where that sells atv parts/tools. Taking the flywheel off is probably the easiest thing you can do. One nut, a washer, thread the puller on, and then tighten the puller to pull the wheel off. Takes like 3 mins...

LMAO...they just dont understand do they!

If all you have is a bent shift shaft i would take the side of the motor off that the clutches is on. That way you don't have to mess with the gears! the shaft goes straight through the motor to the gear ratchet thingy (lol) which is accessible from the side with the clutches. even if the shaft is bent you should be able to wiggle it out. I hope i kinda explained it right! After working on all types of bike motors you learn how to fix things with out removing everything. The way i explained you dont even have to pull the motor. Maybe someone else can explain it better than i can. But if you broke your case cause of a bent shift shaft then you have to split the case.

well thanks for the help you guys but, i already found that out last week that i didnt have to completly take it apart, and zerburn, im no noob to motors, ive worked on them before, but thanks anyhow gunna work on it this week so i can drop my motor in

panther taking apart a stripped flywheel is an entirely different situation, part of the reason for it being stripped out is probably from someone not using the proper tool when attempting the first removal...
