Tomorrow I'm going to install my full FMF exhaust kit. I noticed that the new kit has an exhaust flange that mounts to the cylinder. I didn't see a place for my new exhaust pipe spring. There are a couple of spots between the cooling fins to hook the spring. I'm guessing that is what I'm going to have to do. Hope someone can tell me if I'm correct or not. Thanks in advance.:-/

Not sure about the FMF, my Pro Circuit flange has a couple of holes in it for the springs. If yours has none maybe you could drill a couple.

I used an extra washer on the stud large enough to drill a small hole in it. Works fine.

I did find a small rib between the cooling fins that allowed the spring to hook into place. The pipe is a nice tight fit too. I'm waiting for the silencer to show up and to re jet the carb. I took the snorkel off the air box. Can't wait to get her all fixed up.

my fmf flange i got used but someone welded a spring mount point onto it, and thats what i would do if i got a new one that didnt have one

I got the full system installed. I used permatex orange on the flange and gasket that bolted to the head. Should I have used permatex where the head pipe slips over the flange? It's a really tight fit as it is. I get a little smoke on start up and then no more. Does it need to sealed up for the machine to work properly? Thanks for the input.

^^^ i had to seal mine.... it was starting hard and not running right mid rpm's in 2nd & 3rd sealed it and it has ran fine since..... also threw a new O-ring gasket in behind the flange while i had it apart.
