Shift Shaft seal leaking oil.

How easy is it to change the shift shaft seal?

So far it seams I will have to remove engine and split the case. Before I start I thought I pop in here and check if there is another way.

Guess I'll start planning engine removal.

Any other seals I can replace preventatively while the case will be split?

Let me reword that ...... changing seals does not require engine removal or splitting the cases

Seal I am refering to is bo .6 below.

First clean shaft and seal area. Would be beat to remove any rust from shaft . Run a drywall, sheet metal screw into seal and pull. IF you have to pry, put something to protect engine case from tool.

Pack inside of seal with grease, and lube seal lip and shaft with grease. Carefully tap seal in with right sized pipe/tubing, drift punch, piece of wood. Work slowly making sure seal goes in evenly.
