hi was out riding today and my back wheels locked up and engine died.. got it into neutral and towed it home. i tried to start on the run while being towed but the wheels just locked up again. it will kick over but no great commpression. i know i may rebuild top end but does anyone think i have to go deeper?

thanks for any help

only a look at the condition of the piston will tell you if you need to go deeper.

pics of the carnage will be required !

only had a quick look at it before i left it. doesnt look to be any holes in case and it will turn over by the kicker by hand. altough it does sound rough when doing this so the engine isnt seized. i will hopefully take it out during the week and get pics for yous as soon as i can

gotta take that top end off before you will know the extent of the carnage. Pics are required as said before.

Maybe before you get carried away check that your carrier or trans isn't fubared. Can always look up the ex or even remove reed cage to inspect piston. And if you determin that a disassembly is required, do a leakdown to narrow the cause.
JMHO

Get strait to the piont and keep it simple... Pull the cylinder head (6 nuts),and then pull the cylinder (4 nuts),and inspect ,then photograph.
