Seized up the engine last ride

I zeized up the engine I'm thinking its the top end but haven't tooken out the engine dew to snowy weather and not have a garage , what piston should I buy for cheap and good quality .? I was thinking on opening up the intake and the exhuast for a bit of extra power . I was also thinking of buyin some a/m reeds , oil block off kit . Or does anyone no how to block off the injecter without the kit ?. Lots of pictures will be posted of the rebuild .

Here's a thread to help you out with cleaning up the cylinder:

You sure you want to remove that oil injector? Many would argue that you don't need to... check out this thread:

If you do decide to remove it, here's a thread on how to without a kit:

As for parts, reeds I would suggest some VForce3s. Can be had for around $100-150.

If you want a cheaper alternative, you could replace the stock reeds with some boyesen reeds for about $25:

For piston, I'd say a wiseco kit. Just looks around online for whatever size you need. Looking at right around $100 for that, too.

Maybe you should figure out what caused the seizing. Was it due to bad jetting? Air leak? Etc? That way when you rebuild it, if it was jetting, etc, you know to keep an eye on it.
Any questions, feel free to ask! I:I

I forgot to drop my needle so it was running lean, and needed a bigger pilot jet . No air leaks or nothing , oh yeah I need to change the chain and sprockets also. I found a weisco top end kit , chain &sprockets kit . goona rip out the engine today if I have time and such. I new the top end was going since it had real low compresson . So I drove it till it blew haha.

If you have not pulled that engine down yet, run a leakdown test on it NOW. Make certain the cause of the failure wasn't an airleak. Easier to confirm that now than later after the new piston has come to a screeching halt.

That wasn't smart... You should repair it before it has issues. Doing that kind of stuff is dumb. It makes your wallet lighter VERY quickly

How do you know that there are no leaks?

If the needle was already up,and you said you forgot to drop it,it was already running rich in the first place, not lean.

What main jet are you running?

If your running the oil injection, did the tank have oil in it? Or...did you notice it was empty,THEN decide to put oil in it?

Was the bike flipped or on its side?

What oil were you using in the oil tank?

Its a shame you kept riding it despite the fact that you were aware that it had low compression. Everything is fixable though.

How did you know the compression was low?

Well I disconected everything already , hey joeak it's my cash my quad idc why you got to make such a big deal about the dam thing , I new It needed a rebuild when I bought it so I drove it till it blew. I don't really care about how much it's going to cost because I got a job and 14 making 700 a week . I'm goona do a air leak down test after I rebuild it and its all together .

First off... Take a deep breath...

Take it easy. Not trying to get you riled up. Just trying to help. I guess if money is no object,it doesn't matter after all. Just trying to help you narrow down the issues to see what may have caused it to happen in the first place. Then you would know what to repair,or what to look out for.

I made the mistake of assuming that you posted a thread stating...

"Seized up the engine last ride" and was looking for some help. Why else would you post that?

And yes......"I new It needed a rebuild when I bought it so I drove it till it blew."
is dumb.
Are you going for a full rebuild,or just the top end?

I side with Joe on this, the ride it till it blows attitude is dumb, and not a laughing matter.

The cause of the problem was possibly that you were ignorant to the fact that you need to increase main jet sizes for cooler weather.

No need to blame the pilot, it only affects the idle and should not have contributed to the seize.

Which way do you want to go.

Firstly you want to do it on the cheap, then you say you do not care about the cost.

Okay well I'm just going for the top end rebuild

In your original post you mentioned that you want a good piston, and was considering some port work. Both of which are not cheap. We would hate to see you destroy your new rebuild regardless how much money you make.
If your going that far,you will without question want to do a leak down test on it,and I'm sure you already though that. It will be much easier on the bench too,so your ahead of the game. If you can, please post picturtes of the cylinder, piston, and head.

Let's not get to name calling guys. I wouldn't go so far as to say dumb as much as I would say it is an "unwise use of fiscal supplies" to just go until it blows.

With a little attention and maintenance a blaster engine can last a long long time.

You need to step back and figure out your specific goals for your blaster and move forward from there.

I recommend doing a leakdown test on your current engine to determine if there are any underlying issues currently (blown crank seal, busted case, or perhaps a blown out gasket) and then another leakdown test before reinstalling the engine (after the rebuild). That way you know where to make sure you pay extra close attention to during the rebuild and that you were completely successful during the rebuild I:I
