Sarah burke was a trailblazer in womens freeskiing. Womens superpipe is an olympic event now largely due to her persistence. Unfortunately, she will never be able to compete in what she fought for. In training on january 10th she crashed in the Park city half pipe in Salt lake city Utah. She severed her vertabral artery causing severe cranial bleeding. She was in a medically induced coma for 9 days before succumbing to her injuries earlier today.

This really hits home to me for 2 reasons, one, freeskiing is a sport i participate in and love, and know the risks. and second, she was born and raised 30 minutes from my home before moving out west to pursue her skiing career.

Here is an article that also allows for anyone willing to donate to help pay some of the $550,000 medical bills thanks to your sh*tty lack of health care in the US. So maybe if you got some extra change around you can use it to benefit a grieving family

Sucks she passed, but if you talk about sh*tty healthcare maybe they should have shipped her back to oh so great canada where they let you die while waiting to get help. Just sayin'
