Any good tips for removing striped bolts and screws????

My thoughts are: Penetrating oil, drill, and an easy out.....

That's what I did for one of mine.

I also tried using a chisel and cutting down the middle of the head to make it a flat head. Didn't work too well...screw driver bent.

go to a tool and die maker this people can help you they have many tools to remove this screw's /make new screw's/repair damage screw / don't use penetranting oil this will lubricated only the head off the screw no the body or try using a screw remover and hit it with a hammer hard and twist the screw remover ] if the screw dont't move go to a tool and die maker[

You can use the easy out. At work I use a 3 inch cutting wheel and try to make the screw a flathead. I have a monster snap on flat head screw driver that usually does the job.

If its a flush mount screw the easy out is the best way.

On stripped bolts just cut or grind the head off and use the easy out or cut the nut off the other side(if applicable).

i use a high quality bit extracter kit like snap on the might costa alot but you will never break them but if you do they replace them

all these replys are good. EZ out and penatrating oil, but like somone said, i liked to just take a die grinder, like a little cutoff tool and then make a flat head slot or a phillips head cross and use a ratchet for leverage.

I started this thread over a month ago and since then I have tried all methods listed here. Here's what I learned....
Try this first if space permits....
1. Use a Dremel tool with a flat cutting disk to cut a notch in the head of the screw then a big flathead screwdriver to back it out.... worked 9 out of 10 times.
2. Easyout and drill bit set. TAKE YOUR TIME. Start with a really small pilot hole and work your way up from there ...this works as a last resort and is more time consuming than the first method but like I said it works...

For hex head bolts or cap screws...
1. Dremel and small cutting disk again. Cut off the top quarter and bottom quarter of the head (just enough to flatten out the side. dont make it too thin) this will make the head look rectangular in shape. Next take a pair of vice grips and lock onto the bolt and turn out....
2. Same as #2 above..

Hope this helps....
