ok i was riding today and it just felt it it started popping and then i hit the brake to stop and didnt pull the clutch in and it stalled and would start up.i got it to pull start once and i didnt get it in neutral and it stalled again.i can put my finger over the spark plug hole and it doesnt really try to push my finger off.so im thinking top end or reeds.its getting spark and i tried a new plug.im gonna pull it apart tomorrow after i wash it to see what it is

I'd pull the carb out of the intake and inspect your reeds through there. Bad reeds will cause a significant drop in compression. Or you can also do a dry then wet compression test to rule out rings/bore. An other easy inspection is to pull the pipe and inspect the piston through the exhaust port, most piston failures will cause damage on the exhaust side. If damage is evident you need to start diagnosing why it failed before you tear down. Do a leakdown test! If you have an airleak say in your crank seals and you put a new top end together it will surely fail again. Popping can be a sign of many different problems, common ones are:air leak, lean jetting and bad reeds. I don't recommend just pulling it apart when there are a few other tests/inspections you can and should do first.

i just put a 30mm carb on and got the jetting cardboard color so im hoping its just reeds but i will take a look

same thing happened to me i was riding 6th gear pinned and heard a loud ass pop then it wouldent start.it was the reeds one of them snapped off.

nah i was only in like 3rd.it was more like a sputter not a pop.but i took the reeds out and there good still flat but i saw like what looked like a flake of metal on the reeds.i can see like 3 lines below each port window on the piston that looks like wear.so its lloking like the top end.o yea there was a little bit of gas sittin on part of the intake with some dirt in the gasI:I .i just knew my air filter was lettin dirt in

that just changed my mind about getting a k&n air filter.

well i did a compression test and had 35lbs of compression.then i did the leak down test and it wouldnt hold any pressure it was coming out where the cases split so this is gonna be a nightmare.i had pieces of metal in my exhuast.cylinder is gonna have to be bored.looks like somethin got between the piston and cylinder and made a grove i might have to get another clinder cuz i was already at 67.5mm piston and if im correct you can only go to 68mm?
