Hey guys. i need some advice on an engine rebuild. im pretty sure im going to just rebuild the top end. my blaster seemed like it was trying to seize up on me tonite while i was riding it. it was running great and then the more i rode it the crappier it ran. carb was rebuilt a couple weeks ago and it ran fine after that. anyways. engine wouldnt idle. finally stalled out. i went to kick it over and the kick wouldnt move. i waited a couple minutes and tried again and it was good to go. started right up and ran. just would not idle. so. ive decided to just rebuild the top end??? maybe??? im not reall sure what to do. or what parts would be needed or if there is a kit i would need??? btw its a 88 Blaster

Sounds just like what mine did when I had mine for the first 3 weeks. Make DAMN sure you get a Wiseco Forged Pro-Lite Piston. Cast pistons aren't heat treated. Forged under go alot of procedures to make them reliable. Does your cylinder look scarred? Run your nail around the cylinder and make sure they're are no scars, if their is, you need to get it bored then honed. If it's not honed, when you go to install your piston/rings, your rings wont seat properly causing pre-mature detonation.

thanks man. if i get the wiseco kit i want to stay as close to stock as possible with this motor. im not big in to performance. i just trail ride thats it. so if i had to have it bored and honed would i just get the wiseco .010 kit from ebay for like 110 bucks????will i be ok withought having to do the bottom end??? thats someting i REALLY dont want to do. i think part of my problem is my oil injectioin system. im going to get rid of that when i do the rebuild and fix my kickstart problem.

thanks man. but. i dont feel comfortable giving my number to people that i dont know lol. i think im just going to pull the jug off and see if it needs bored out and then from there i will decide what kit im going to get. is there any place to buy a new jug??? i have a feeling it would cost as much as getting mine bored/honed?
