There should be a wire near the back that would go to the tail light. Unless the the previous owner removed it. Then you'll need to run a line from the switch to the back and ground it.

Somewhere there should be a blue wire coming from the handlebar switch., this is where you should derive the power from.

Connecting it to either the high beam , (yellow, or green) , low beam will work but each time you dim the lights or return to high the tail light will temporarily switch off.
, running it to the high beam "Y" may cause the taillight to burn out faster

The tail light will not burn out any faster no matter where you connect is as it will only draw the current required to light to full brightness.

sweet im gonna get it then..i found a real cheap one with mounting bracket..thanksI:I

Actually if you connect it to the high beams it would only work if you have it set to high, there is no power going to the high beam wire if it is on low

next question is shouldnt the wires to hook from the tail light be somewhere near the back?i dont see any extra wires..every one is plugged in,SOOO...im gonna have to run wire to the hood and splice into the headlight..where can i get wire to run the extra few feet

Any auto parts store should have what you need. Will be 12awg wire. Mine run from the light and go up over the oil tank, never paid attention to where exactly they go after that. I gotta 96

/\ /\ /\ /\ I think he means blue wire coming from the handlebar switch, green is low beam.

Be careful there is another blue wire in the loom, it goes to the voltage reg, if you connect it to that one the lamp will always be on.

YES, thanks Blaaster! Like he said about the volt reg, make sure its the blue one from the switch, if its just not there or you cant find it, then you can use the green headlight one as a last resort
