I finally got the TORS figured out on my Blaster and I've been riding it. It runs great but when it's idling it has a rattle to it. It sounds like a rattling heat shield on a car and I can't find anything loose so I'm thinking it's coming from the engine. I've ridden another blaster before but I can't remember if it made that noise or not.

It'll kinda knock or ping sometimes when I downshift. From what I hea this sounds normal though.

It's also not smoking much, I don't know if it's too lean or if it's a good thing. I'm using this SL2 low smoke stuff I got from the Honda House.

I took out the plug and it looks to be that nice tan brown color. And it starts up on the first kick without much effort. (usually can do it sitting on the seat without standing)

Just want to make sure I don't have some kind of bearing or something going bad. The engine that was on it before had the piston skirt break apart on it and I don't want that happening to this one. That's a lot more work than ust rplacing a wrist pin bearing or something.

SOUNDS like piston slap to me, but i could be wrong

i agree, but also check your exhaust and make sure its not lose some where, the bolt fell out of my silencer by the grab bar and it rattled similar to this! hope it helps

Wouldn't it be low on compression with a piston slap? Is it really that big of a deal? Should I rebuild the top end?

I think I know what it is...its the clutch from somebody not installing it correctly!! They forgot about that ring that fits in there to cusion the plates while there inactive(not pushing the clutch plates in).

it sounds like a light degree of piston slap to me.. and no, i used to have some piston slap too.. it isn't GOOD... but its not tradgic either.... you don't necessarily have to worry about it until you can notice a loss in power, or if you check your compression give me a list of mods and tell us what the compression is and we'll tell you what you should do

i had the same problem and the bottom of my piston had broke so ya i would check your piston

did it sound like that
.. cause mine kinda sounds like that but i think its normal ..

If you're still using the automatic oil injection system I'd check to see if its still working.

then I'd start pre-mixing gas.
